Marchelle’s story: The building blocks of a successful spa CEO
Marchelle Charles, a native New Yorker, always had a passion for making people look and feel beautiful. With her love for the arts from an early age, her mother knew her career would be doing something creative, and now she can add Spa CEO to her resume.
After graduating from Adelphi University in 2009 she attended Makeup Designory in NYC, a professional makeup artistry school. Several years after makeup freelancing, she decided to expand her knowledge and love for skin. She attended NYIB on Long Island to educate herself on aesthetics.
Marchelle’s dreams were actualised when she opened her very own spa, Beautiology located in Garden City, New York. Little did she know after those first two years as a solo esthetician, she would expand her team and become a brick and mortar business owner.
It’s here in her little slice of paradise she offers everything from spray tans, facials, body treatments, makeup, waxing, and has spent the last eight years building her empire as a spa CEO.
But while all the infrastructure was in place, Marchelle was struggling with overwhelm, fatigue, and exhaustion as a busy operator running her spa, with several employees. And it wasn’t long before Marchelle signed up for Growth Factor for some additional support and community with like-minded women in business.
“Before joining Growth Factor I really struggled with overwhelm, fatigue, exhaustion, was feeling burnt out, and had all the feelings a spa CEO feels, with no clear path to success,” Marchelle said
“I knew I was doing something right in my business, but I needed that invitation to succeed, the guidelines and a practical and clear path to know what needed to change and how to go about it.”
After joining Growth Factor, Marchelle was able to generate over 10k in revenue by implementing the systems and process provided, including introducing a membership revamp, a service and retail combination package and hiring a new provider to take on new clients and increase her revenue.
And after just six months in the program, Marchelle’s bottom line started to soar, generating over 22k in revenue.
“I have been flawed with all of the resources that the Growth Factor Framework has provided. I learned so much about my numbers and became much more confident in what I was doing,” she said.
The journey to entrepreneurship can be a lonely one, and Marchelle says the community within Addo Aesthetics has been the best part about signing on to the program.
“Being able to have that community and have that support I would say has been the biggest value for me. Having other like-minded high-level peers that are in the spa and wellness world that you can reach out to and have a friend to talk to when you are in the ebbs and flows of business is so valuable.”
Marchelle suggests that Growth Factor is for any CEO in the spa and wellness industry who is looking for the next level in their business.
“You may have reached a plateau or you don’t have all the knowledge, and having a safe space to talk about money, and other important topics you need to tackle is really important,” she said.
“Growth Factor is for that person who wants to reach that next level but doesn’t have the push or the community to do so, so if you are thinking of joining, just do it.”
