EP 273: Strengthening Your Body, Mind, and Perseverance Muscle with Zac Marion

As the last couple of years have unfolded, I’m sure you can attest to the fact that exhibiting resilience and perseverance feels like a mental and emotional workout.

It takes a lot of effort and stamina, but as you continue to do it and do it more often, the easier it becomes.

Working out your body is exactly the same, and as my guest on this episode shares, there’s a real, scientific link (more than one) between the mind-body connection, and choosing to harness this as a human and as an entrepreneur is one of the most tried-and-true ways to reach your definition of success.

In this episode of Spa Marketing Made Easy, I’m joined by Zac Marion, a professional runner whose journey began unconventionally with a simple desire to lose weight.

Well, a 100-lb weight loss eventually led to competing in 100-mile ultramarathon races around the world and a career change from business to completing a doctorate degree in physical therapy.

As my go-to iFit trainer, Zac has personally led me through great physical feats that have also helped me to strengthen my mental fortitude, which in turn helps my business and I knew I had to get him on the mic to share his expert knowledge and perspective.

Tune into this episode to hear:

  •  Zac’s personal health journey and how he made the decision to choose a new path rather than the one that was automatically assigned to him
  • How your “Why” applies to all facets of life, including your personal health journey and how that then intertwines with your business vision
  • The science behind movement and mindset, and the impact it has on your mental fortitude and perseverance
  • Why investing in your health is the ultimate investment, and how you can begin to reshift your perspective to make it a priority

EP 271: Breaking Your Blocks and Leveling Up Your Money Mindset with Emily Williams

Raise your hand if you ever heard “money is the root of all evil” while growing up.

Or how about “money doesn’t grow on trees”?

My guess is every listener’s hand is raised and you might even be thinking, “those are things I say now.”

        Oops…

Listen, no shame or blame here, this conversation is all about unlearning and rewiring what we think about money that doesn’t serve us now or in the future we’re trying to create.

Because here’s the thing, money isn’t evil. Money is energy.

It can be a powerful tool that lends itself to accomplishing fantastic works of good for our families, communities, and the world at large.

But as my guest on this week’s episode, Emily Williams, shares, if we don’t break down our money blocks, we’re never going to be able to level up our abundance to that place of utilizing money as a true force for good on a grander scale.

If you’re not familiar with Emily’s work, she is a money mindset expert, success coach, author, speaker, and CEO of I Heart My Life where she helps executives and entrepreneurs break through their limiting beliefs and rewrite their money stories, so that they can increase both their income and their impact, and feel more fulfilled and satisfied than they ever have before.

While I know money can be an uncomfortable topic to talk about or even listen to, especially when it comes to our beliefs around money and not simply looking at the black-and-white numbers of our money situation, this is work that’s worth doing no matter what stage of life or business you’re in.

Lean in, and let’s explore what it means to truly level-up.

        In this episode, we discuss:

        •  Examining your deeply rooted money beliefs and digging into finding where they lie so you can begin to uproot them
        • How your money mindset can hold you back from your goals or help you accelerate toward them and why it’s critical to understand how the concept of “worthiness” ties into our money mindset
        • Ways in which you can begin to “flip the switch” on your money mindset to become less scarcity-minded and lean into abundance
        • Why knowing and asking for what you want are critical steps in busting through money blocks to build the life and business you love

EP 268: 3 Signs It’s Time to Hire

If you’re reading this there’s likely one thing you know for sure, it’s that you’re burning the candle at both ends, or you’re awfully close to it.

But the one thing you may not know is whether now is a good time to hire and bring on help so you can ease the load you’re carrying in your business.

I get it, hiring in your spa can often feel like walking a tightrope as you need to strike a careful balance to ensure that you’re in the right place to bring on a new hire while also not waiting until it’s so late in the game that hiring feels more like a burden than a relief.

While my overall goal for all my Spa Marketing Made Easy listeners is to help you get your dream team on board sooner rather than later, in this episode, I want to help you pinpoint your timing so that you can grow with the smoothest trajectory possible.

And before you listen, a quick reminder…

You’re right on time and exactly in the right place for your unique journey.

All that we can do as business owners is make decisions that affect our present and set us up for the future success we desire. Looking to the past is helpful for lessons learned, but not beating ourselves up over the “could of, should of, would ofs.”

Seek to make the decisions and take the steps now as if you were already the Spa CEO you envision yourself becoming and growing into, and you’ll find that your timing will work itself out exactly as it’s supposed to.

Now, let’s listen in as we talk about how to identify those tell-tale signs that it’s time to hire and make the decisions that will help you grow to the next level with the right support by your side.

          In this episode, I discuss:

          •  The first and more important thing you need to get clear on before embarking on building your team
          • Three clear-cut signs that it’s time to bring on help into your business
          • The financial breakdown of what’s possible when you begin to build out your team vs. what you can earn as a solo
          • My tips for Spa CEOs who are looking to bring on more admin support and my go-to exercise for determining what you can get off your plate
          • How to think big-picture and long-term to see how hiring plays into your bigger vision

EP 259: Planning for Support – Part 3 – Annual Planning Series

It’s often a term we hear in reference to raising babies or a family, but the sentiment rings true for entrepreneurs as well…

                      “It takes a village.”

Yes, even if you’re a solo aesthetician or spa owner, you too need support because whether you’ve got a single location with you as the sole service provider or you have a huge team at multiple locations, every entrepreneur looking to grow, scale, or find freedom, whether it be with their time, energy, or finances, needs a support system.

And beyond being an entrepreneur, then comes the role of being an ambitious woman, partner, parent (I know we have a few men on my list of listeners, but the majority of my audience is women, and if you’re anything like me, your business is a big part of your life and responsibilities, but your outside-of-biz responsibilities stack just as high).

As women, we’re so often fed the dream of “having it all” and while I truly believe that to be possible and true, I don’t believe we can do it on our own, or at least not without burning ourselves out in the process.

And if we’re being honest with ourselves…is it really “having it all” if trying to “do it all” costs us our joy, our health, and the white space of our lives where rest, hobbies, family time, and spontaneity can flourish?

I don’t think I’m wrong in assuming that the answer there is “no.”

So, if you’re ready for growth this next year and you have big goals you want to hit, seeking out support is critical, and in this episode of Spa Marketing Made Easy, which is Part 3 of our month-long annual planning series, we’ll dive into what to consider as you look to bring in support personally and professionally in the year ahead.

                      In this episode, you’ll learn:

                      • How to plan for support both personally and professionally
                      • Questions to consider when examining the work you’re doing and deciding what tasks and responsibilities to delegate
                      • The two critical things you need to make your goals, which we outlined in Part 2 of our planning series a reality
                      • A quick exercise for beginning to see which areas you need support in and how to outsource and delegate to start freeing up your time and energy quickly

EP 258: Planning Your Quarterly Focuses – Part 2 – Planning Series

Welcome to Part 2 of our Annual Planning Series on Spa Marketing Made Easy!

If you’ve yet to listen to Part 1, be sure to listen to that part first to get a firm understanding your commitments.

And once you’re clear on your commitments, bandwidth, and the values you want to align your goals with, now it’s time to take the next step of honing in on your quarterly focuses.

This part of the planning process is key because while it’s fun to do all the big, lofty, and audacious goal-setting and visioning for the whole year, it’s also important to have your overarching yearly goals acting as your North Star…

If you don’t take the time to break those big goals down, you’re going to be left spinning your wheels rather than actually moving forward and covering significant ground in reaching your goals.

Think of your quarterly goals as the crucial stepping stones to crossing the side of the wide river that is the year ahead.

Let’s map the journey, shall we?

                      In this episode, you’ll learn:

                      • How to bring what you uncovered in Part 1 of our planning process to the next step
                      • Getting clear on divvying up your annual goals and benchmarks into quarterly goals and milestones
                      • Why it’s critical to pace your goals and how determining a quarterly focus helps you to do that without burning yourself out or making rushed mistakes
                      • Examples for how to space out your promotions and timing of your goals to make them realistic and achievable, while also wildly successful

With twinkly lights aglow and a fresh yearly calendar just waiting to be filled, you might be looking down the road and at the year that lies ahead thinking…

“How am I going to do this?”

Whether you’ve got a big audacious goal you want to achieve in 2022, or you want to take your foot off the gas and invite more space and breathing room into your life (without sacrificing the growth or momentum in your business), the next four episodes of Spa Marketing Made Easy are for you!

That’s right, this is Part One in a four-part series I’ll be sharing throughout December all about properly planning so you can have your most productive (and profitable) year yet.

So pull up an earbud and settle in for Part One all about understanding your goals and commitments so you can set the stage for crafting a strategic plan that works with your definition of success.

                      In this episode, you’ll learn:

                      • How business and life planning and goal-setting are intertwined and why it’s critical to get clear on your “Why” and values first
                      • The benefits of keeping a digital calendar system
                      • Questions to ask when performing a calendar audit and how to use the answers to begin structuring your schedule moving forward
                      • My top tips and hacks for structuring your schedule to work with your natural productivity flow and understanding how to find the right balance in your days
